ELC principal, Christina Lau congratulated the winners for their achievements.
“This year, we are delighted to have students from our Lower Secondary class receiving gold and silver awards. These students are learning English as a foreign language unlike our Oxford Advanced classes, where students have strong background in spoken and written English. Special credit goes to our ELC teachers for motivating their students to showcase their writing ability and submit their entries, many of them for the first time.”
The gold, silver and bronze award winners are eligible to receive 20, 19 and 18 merit points respectively in their schools. Those who get the certificates of participation will receive 17 merit points. This was announced by Encik Zainuren Bin Hj. Mohd Nor, Pengarah, Bahagian Sukan, kokurikulum dan Kesenian, Kementerian Pendidikan Malaysia, in his letter, dated 19 December 2023 to Ms Bernice Narayanan, Chairman of the Royal Commonwealth Society of Malaysia.
Located at Fortuneland, Rock Road, ELC is still handling enrolment for its 2025 classes.

READING CAMPAIGN
16 students, aged 8 to 16, at the English Language Centre, recently were awarded RM30 MPH gift vouchers each for completing at least ten outstanding book reviews. The reading campaign which started in January and ended on 7/7/23, encouraged students to cultivate the habit of reading. Mdm. Christina Lau, the principal said,’ We want our students to find joy in reading books of different genres to widen their knowledge and to improve their vocabulary and writing skills.’ Students at ELC look forward to going to the school library every week with their teachers. They fill in their own library forms with the book title, the author’s name and checked-out dates. Similar campaigns like this will be organised in the future and all students here are encouraged to participate and be awarded for their effort in writing book reviews.
